![]() | Title: The Bobbsey Twins' Wonderful Secret Author: Laura Lee Hope Illustrator: Unknown Year: 1957 Publisher: World Distributors (Manchester) Limited Binding: Hardback Condition: Very Good Jacket Condition: Better than Good
Description:
The tenth instalment of the popular series is filled with all sorts of adventures, from secrets
in the Bobbsey home cellar, to an epic snowball fight! Readers are warned that the dialogues
between – and descriptions of – Dinah and Sam (the Bobbseys' house-help) are very
non-PC.
There is a b&w frontispiece in which Bert is emerging from a crack in the ice, soaking wet, much to the amusement of the onlookers; and a number of quarter-page, b&w illustrations. The endpapers and pastedowns are illustrated with a b&w pattern of miscellaneous, holiday-related objects (e.g. beach balls, windmills, circus tents, &c.). The jacket has been laminated and reinforced with paper by the previous owner, and bears its original price of 5´-. There is some minor loss to the jacket where the tail of the spine meets the front and rear covers, but is otherwise in very good condition. The pages are also in very good condition: clean and free from any foxing or other markings. As this is a pre-1959 book, there is the usual discolouration to the endpapers where they became cosy with the jacket flaps. The binding is very tight. Rare in dust jacket, so priced accordingly. Measures 19.5 cm × 13 cm (7.8″ × 5.2″). 8vo. 183 pp. Price: £35.00 |
