Description:
"Aesop did not write down his fables. He told many people the stories and they remembered
them. It was nearly two hundred years later before all the stories were collected together
and published.
The fables were not published in English until the 15th Century, but since then they have
been read by people all over the world. Their moral lessons are as true today as they were
2,500 years ago when Aesop was alive."
Beautifully illustrated throughout with a mix of orange monochrome and full-colour. Front pastedown and endpaper are printed on orange coloured paper and depict line drawings of the various key characters and objects from the fables. Matt pictorial boards have been laminated by the previous owner, and their initials are inscribed in green felt-tip on the laminate covering part of the front pastedown. Spine ends are badly bumped; corners only lightly so. Pages are in very good overall condition (free from foxing), although there is some minor soiling and creasing on a handful, plus a signature in black ballpoint on p.9.
