Description: Jupo's first ever children's book follows the adventures of Mr. Pim – a poor railway worker, who lives in an old, converted passenger coach – and his two children, John and Joan. Whilst on a pleasant walk in the woods, the girl finds an old shoe. Her brother tells her to get shot of it, but Mr. Pim says that it could still be useful if mended. Soon the little family discover that this is no ordinary piece of footwear, but a Wishing Shoe! And the trio are whisked away to such exotic locales as a mediæval town and a South Sea island.
But at the end of their escapades, all agree that there really is no place like home!

Lovely 4-colour and b&w illustrations – many of which are full-page – plus a colour map with locations of the various events. Pastedowns and endpapers depict humorous 2-colour monochrome illustrations of various key people and various objects from the story.

Matt pictorial boards with cloth spine. Covers are rubbed along the extremities. Spine and corners are bumped. Minor damp staining is present on the front cover, plus the inscription '1p' in ballpoint (no doubt the work of a child who wanted to sell the book in the early '70s!). Some light, localised paint marks on the rear. Neat gift inscription in faint black ink on verso. Internally, the book is in very good condition for its age. The pages are unmarked, and have even resisted tanning. There are, however, a few jots of foxing on the endpapers and on a handful of pages towards the end.

Measures 23.5 cm × 29 cm (9.4″ × 11.6″). Landscape 8vo. Unpaginated.
