Description: "Here is another carefully planned [Ladybird] book which will help to answer the many questions lively children ask.
Within the limits of a relatively simple vocabulary, interesting and accurate information is given about life in a modern hospital, and in particular the work of a Nurse.
This book will also help to dispel any fears of the unknown which might be felt by a child about to enter hospital."

Illustrated throughout with highly-detailed full-page colour paintings on each facing page.
Of particular note are those depicting how Christmas is spent in a hospital, as well as an x-ray room that would have today's Health and Safety execs up in arms – the radiographer is sitting directly exposed to the radiation, wearing nothing but a lead-lined apron and matching gloves for protection! Vehicle enthusiasts will enjoy the beautiful illustrations of an Austin LD ambulance (LLA 231) and a Morris J2 'hospital bus' (765 RPB).

Matt pictorial boards are worn and rubbed along their extremities; rear board grubby. Spine and corners bumped. pp. 24-28 have a negligible dot of foxing on their leftmost edge; else all others are in very good, unmarked condition, and haven't so much as a shadow of tanning. Binding is tight.

Original price of 2′6 NET printed on verso. Rear board lists titles up to The Sailor, indicating this is a reprint from circa 1967.

Measures 17.5 cm × 11.5 cm (7″ × 4.6″). 12mo. 51 pp.
