Description: Extremely rare English translation of Nounours Chez le Coiffeur, featuring the famous bear from the cult French children's television show Bonne Nuit, les Petits – itself based on the equally iconic East German Das Sandmännchen.
Nicolas and Pimprenelle (here rendered as Peter and Lucy) give Nounours (Freddie) a makeover before bedtime. Several mishaps happen along the way, but the children inform him that "one must suffer to be beautiful".
Lovely, full-page colour illustrations throughout – several of which are double-spread – full of charming '60s nostalgia.
Glazed pictorial boards are somewhat creased and scarred; spine and corners bumped and rubbed. Slight cracking to the former. Pages are lightly creased from handling, but – apart from a small 'rusty patch' which has affected 6 pages – are in very good, unmarked condition, and completely free from foxing or tanning. Binding feels a little fragile, but none of the pages show any intention of coming loose.
Measures 31.5 cm × 24 cm (12.5″ × 8.2″). Folio. Unpaginated.
