Description:
Rare annual consisting of many war and adventure stories in picture strip and
traditional format, plus a number of humorous comic strips on so-called Jolly
Jokes pages. Illustrated throughout in B&W, three-colour monochrome, and
greyscale. Superb three-tone monochrome full-page illustrations of 18th and early
19th century soldiers on front and rear boards. Also includes three marvellous
double-spread monochrome illustrations: one depicting the Battle of Hastings;
the second a Napoleonic era battlefield; whilst the last shows an intense battle
between British forces and Zulu natives. Also contains many superb full-page
illustrations in monochrome.
Front cover has a ½″ × ½″ (1.3 cm × 1.3 cm) indentation along the top and a slightly creased corner where it meets the spine (see image), otherwise both front and rear covers are practically devoid of any marks. Very minor bumping to the top and bottom of the spine (barely noticeable). Pages have some minor tanning around the edges, but are otherwise in excellent condition with no marks or foxing whatsoever. Unfortunately, the ffep has come loose, and is the only thing to reduce the annual's condition from very good nearly thus. The binding, however, remains very tight and all other pages are unaffected. The annual has not been price-clipped and bears its original price of 75p. Measures 10.6″ × 8″ (26.5 cm × 20 cm). 4to. 141 pp. Price: £15.00 |
