Nouveau style.
Beautiful, heavy binding with intricate floral gilding on front cover and the spine; pages gilded on top. Decorated endpapers, but the fep has been cut out (its twin image is still on the rep, though). Full-colour frontispiece protected by tissue paper with heavy foxing, but frontis not affected. There is an ink inscription on the back. All pages are affected by different degrees of foxing – with exception to the colour plates, which remain as new. Two plates have come loose, otherwise the binding and the spine are sound. Measures 9.4″ × 7.4″ (23.5 cm × 18.5 cm). Large 8vo. 299 pp. + 5 pages detailing other books by the publisher. (SOLD) |
