Description:
Written in an enthusiastic and well-informed style, the author – who personally
explored every square inch of the region – takes the reader on a scenic journey
across this "irregular strip of land".
He describes the beauty of the hills, moorlands, and forests, the secluded and unspoiled
valleys, and guides the reader through the charming Welsh towns, telling of their history
and pointing out their notable features.
Illustrated throughout with plates containing as many as 128 high-quality b&w photographs plus lovely b&w sketches and a colour frontispiece. Orange cloth boards with blue text on front and spine. Spine and corners lightly bumped. Dust jacket is unclipped and has had its original price of 7/6 revised by a sticker: "9/6 net including extra War Costs". The jacket has survived relatively well with the only real problems being scuffing along the upper extremities and a small loss at the bottom (approximately 2½ cm × 1½ cm – 1″ × 0.6″). Remarkably for a 73 year old book, the pages have resisted tanning and what little foxing there is, is very light and confined to the endpapers and title page. Very tightly bound. Measures 21.5 cm × 13 cm (8.6″ × 5.2×). 8vo. 120 pp. (SOLD) |
