Illustrated throughout with Rene Cloke's lovely b&w drawings.

Glazed pictorial boards; light scratches on front. Spine and corners bumped. Slight damage near tail of spine. Previous owner's name and class inscribed in coloured pencil on front pastedown. pp. 7-16 have had their commas underlined in red ballpoint. Pages are completely tan-free, though a handful have some minor foxing. Otherwise pages are clean, unmarked and in very good condition.

Although the year of publication is given as 1970, this is likely to be a reprint from c.1972, as the last book listed on the rear – The Children of Cherry Tree Farm – was first published by Dean in that year.
