Description: "Lewis and his mother and his little sister Ellie go out on a shopping expedition. But Lewis as usual has boots that won't stay done up, a jacket that comes unzipped and gloves that fall under the seat of the bus . . ."
Delightful four-colour illustrations perfectly capture the nostalgia of life in a 1950s New York suburb.
Pictorial covers are in a protective plastic jacket which, apart from some minor wear along the spine, has preserved them nicely. Surprisingly for an ex-public library copy, the stamps are only confined to the inside front cover, and it would appear that the book had never been issued with a lending record or ticket holder. The lightly tanned pages have been creased from handling, and there are some minor grubby marks on a few – but no foxing. The pages also have a slight musty smell about them. The final page has come loose and is torn at its foot where it would've originally met the gutter. The content remains unaffected.
Measures 16 cm × 19.5 cm (6.4″ × 7.8″); Landscape 16mo. 32 pp.
