Description:
Adapted from the erstwhile Mayor of Berlin's, Eberhard Diepgen (whose photo appears in the
book), introduction:
"The panorama of pictures in this book ranges from the Reichstag to the Brandenburg Gate,
Café Kranzler, Alexanderplatz, Britz Castle and Lake Müggel, to the village pond in
Lichtenrade and the backyards of Kreuzberg. Thus a colourful mosaic is pieced together in
which the whole of Berlin is reflected."
A 61-page English translation of the story set to the paintings appears prior to the start
of the German original.
Beautiful, full-page colour reproductions of each of the paintings by the Gropiusstädter Sonntagsmalern are found on every facing page – including one featuring an East Berlin-registered Trabant estate! Glazed pictorial boards are slightly worn at the rear – scratches and creasing. Negligible bumping to spine ends; corners are straight. Internally, the book is as new. Pages are printed on glossy paper; the English translation of the text appears on ordinary, olive-green coloured paper. Scarce bilingual edition. Measures 21 cm × 29.5 cm (8.4″ × 11.8″).
