Description:
"It was a very small, very old, rather crumpled donkey. And Sylvia was in some ways a very
English little girl. So she decided that the best way of spending her birthday money was to
make a bid for the dilapidated donkey. The transaction seemed surprisingly simple until she
told her friend Pepe Moreno about it. He was Spanish down to the rope soles of his
alpargatas, quick to spot a possible flaw and quick to take the appropriate
action—action that rapidly whirled them away into hilarious adventure, reported with
Eric Allen's customary vivacity."
Illustrated with numerous excellent (often amusing) b&w line drawings (including a frontis). Coffee-coloured cloth boards with black embossed illustration of a donkey smoking a cigar to front; embossed black text to spine. Spine and corners are straight. The price-clipped jacket has had a negligible closed tear skilfully repaired and is in excellent overall condition. Apart from the ffep having been removed, the book is effectively in the same condition in which it left the publisher 50 years ago. The pages are crisp, bright and free from all defect. Measures 21.5 cm × 15.5 cm (8.6″ × 6.2″). 8vo. 59 pp. Price: £26.00 |
